A speaker once said she built a million-dollar business in just one year, then she sold me her “Secrets to Success”!
$20,000 later, it turns out it took her fourteen years, not just one to reach a million in sales. For thirteen years she struggled until she found the perfect business partner, incorporated, and went on the speaking circuit. And she could sell Big Time!
Quite an achievement, yet still an untrue “true story.”
You will undoubtedly be tempted some day, as I was, so just remember: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
Here’s how you can truly become an “Overnight Success.”
Follow your passion with a vision and mission bigger than yourself.
Create a Business Plan to make sure you know what you need to do to achieve success.
Respond to clients’ needs, recognize opportunities and develop effective systems for a profitable business.
Use Technology. Speak with other users, check out consumer ratings, and tap into your professional networks for advice before disrupting your existing systems.
Plan each day the night before keeping in mind your long-term yearly and monthly targets. Enter your free time (healthy meals, exercise, family, personal care) and money-making activities first.
Write down 3 things you are grateful for each day. Just do it. It will keep you grounded.
Avoid the Gap. It’s easy to beat yourself up for falling short of a goal. Instead, look back at how far you’ve come and congratulate yourself. You’ll be amazed to see what you’ve accomplished and the process will energize you.
Get Help! Join a supportive network like Womanition, find a mentor and coach, and sleep well at night knowing that someone always has your back.
Never give up! And Voila! In 10 or 12 years, you too can become an Overnight Success!
