Empowering Women to Embrace Their Dreams: My Journey from Education to Leadership Coaching
For nearly three decades, I dedicated my life to education, shaping young minds and making a difference in the classroom. However, as fulfilling as my career was, I wanted a change from the same routine. Instead of retiring, I hopped into what my family jokes is my ‘second career.’ It wasn’t easy, but I made the courageous decision to follow my heart and passion, venturing into the world of leadership coaching and consulting.
The transition was not without its challenges. Impostor syndrome reared its ugly head, making me question my abilities and whether I was too old to start all over again. Yet, I refused to let these doubts dictate my future. I embraced the fear and uncertainty and decided to go back to school to become a certified executive coach. Going back to school and becoming an entrepreneur in my mid-fifties was daunting. Leaving the security of a long-standing career required a deep belief in myself that I had to cultivate through victories and losses. However, as I continued on my journey, I realized that age is not a barrier but an asset, bringing a wealth of experience and wisdom from my past to my new future. Through my experiences, I was able to create successful businesses that I never would’ve dreamed of doing in my early 20s.
In 2023, my efforts and perseverance were recognized when I received the Womanition Award for Trailblazer. This prestigious award celebrates women over 55 who are pursuing their dreams and making significant contributions through business, non-profits, or charitable organizations.
My story is a testament to the power of believing in oneself and the incredible potential that lies within each of us. To any woman out there hesitating to take the plunge, I urge you to listen to your inner voice. Age, fear, and self-doubt are not obstacles but stepping stones on your journey to make you into the woman you want to be.
