I’ve always been a creator of stories through many different lenses of life. My journey into photography, now as the proud owner of Mag Barry Photography, has been a tapestry of diverse experiences and unwavering passion.
Initially, my path began in Toronto as an interior designer. But with a move to Edmonton, I embraced a new chapter, earning an education degree and spending a decade as a grade 3 teacher. Teaching shaped my understanding of human connections and honed my ability to see beauty in everyday moments.
Retirement opened a new door, nudged open by the encouragement of an art gallery curator who saw the photographer within me waiting to emerge. Over the past five years, I’ve immersed myself in the art of photography, dedicating myself to workshops and learning from esteemed photographers. My style has evolved into a documentary approach, capturing life’s fleeting connections and genuine moments—portraits, headshots, family gatherings, engagements—all stories waiting to be told through my lens.
What drives me is my love for people. I thrive on the connections I make, whether with strangers in passing or clients who entrust me with their precious moments. I believe in the power of storytelling and in creating images that resonate deeply. My work is a celebration of humanity, each frame a testament to the unique essence and narrative of every individual.
Looking forward, I envision a legacy of uplifting lives through my photography and capturing the very spirit of those I photograph.
