PAIN, PAIN GO AWAY!

Worried you’ll suffer forever with back pain? Research shows that between 60-95% of adults experience back pain, with many suffering for years. Back pain severely impacts life, making it hard to enjoy activities, focus on work, play with children or grandchildren, take vacations, and even sleep a full night.

Various diagnoses for back pain, such as sprain, strain, tendonitis, or arthritis, often lead to confusion and frustration because many structures in the spine (bones, discs, nerves, muscles, joints, ligaments, and tendons) are pain-sensitive. It’s challenging to pinpoint one specific source. Instead of focusing solely on the painful area, it’s more effective to view your pain as a postural problem.

Dr. David Magee, a renowned physiotherapist, explains:
“Pain arising from the spine is almost always influenced by posture and movement.” Posture is a full-body issue, not localized to the lumbar or cervical spine. Poor posture puts excessive pressure on bones and muscles, leading to pain and discomfort.

Dr. Magee adds that most non-structural postural faults are relatively easy to correct once the problem has been properly identified. Treatment involves strengthening weak muscles, stretching tight ones, and maintaining correct posture in daily activities.

With proper pelvic position, the spine can align correctly, and muscles can support the skeletal structure efficiently. Most people have a misaligned pelvis, leading to excessive spinal curves or a tucked pelvis, affecting overall posture and causing muscle imbalances.

The first step is learning the basic principles of proper posture. Sitting and bending significantly increase pressure on the lumbar spine, often contributing to back pain. Proper sitting involves aligning the pelvis correctly, and proper bending starts at the hips, not the waist or knees, to prevent further damage.

At Advanced Wellness Chiropractic, in addition to our chiropractic care, we focus on teaching correct posture in everyday activities, providing a comprehensive approach to back pain relief. We teach you how to sit, stand, walk, bend, and sleep correctly, helping to alleviate pain and prevent future issues.

By addressing posture and incorporating proper posture into daily life, you can find lasting relief from back pain and reclaim your active, enjoyable life.
